MirrorMyMind supplements it's career and life coaching services by providing health coaching. We focus on nutrition and lifestyle for optimal mental performance.
MirrorMyMind's founder Maithilee is a holistic nutritionist certified by American Fitness Professional's Association (AFPA).
Following is Maithilee's interview conducted by AFPA, which will give you the philosophy and application of MirrorMyMind's Health coaching services.
Q: How did you initially become interested in health and wellness?
Maithilee: I have always have been fascinated by the human mind. Therefore after a fulfilling 25-year career in Silicon Valley, I decided to switch gears and dive into intricacies of psychology. I became a certified strategic intervention coach and started coaching engineers and scientists in Silicon Valley.
My clients had brilliant but overactive and exhausted minds, and they also had depleted bodies and low spirits! In addition to coaching, they needed some serious healing on all levels.
A healthy body is a foundation for a mind to function at it's best. That is why I got interested to know the latest and greatest about nutrition for optimal mental performance.
Q: Why did you choose Holistic Nutrition Certificate offered by AFPA?
Maithilee: I have a strong R&D background from working in a life science company. So the decision to choose the right certification was taken only after considerable research. I decided to do the Holistic Nutritionist Certificate offered by AFPA for following reasons:
It covers all aspects of health (body, mind, and soul), and it is entirely based on science, data, and scientific research. The amount of research and data presented in the course gives me a clear understanding of the nutritional and lifestyle adjustments needed for optimal health. The coursework combines the work of many reputed doctors, researchers, and herbalists in nutrition and well-being.
The certificate is internationally recognized, including the following important organizations.
- American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP)
- The International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine.
- International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT) for Holistic Health Coach in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK/EU.
Q: What was your career like before getting certified?
Maithilee: Most of my clients are from a competitive place like Silicon Valley, which demands the best you can be in terms of knowledge, skills, attitude, aptitude, and passion.
Just being healthy is not sufficient for your personal success. You need to be vibrant, vigorous, and energetic.
Q: What is your career like now?
Maithilee: With the Holistic Nutrition certificate under my belt, I am qualified to give my clients nutritional advice. My primary focus is still a career and life coaching. However, nutrition certification has empowered me to guide them to have the most active life. My practice has become well rounded, where I can help my clients with their mental skillset, emotional blocks, and physical ailments.
Q: What are your favorite parts of your career?
Maithilee: Seeing people get insights and results that propel them to the next level of their evolution is the most fulfilling part of my career. As a coach, I act as their carrier towards their success. This partnership with clients to reach goals is invigorating. My client's success is my success.
Q. How has a holistic lifestyle impacted your life?
Maithilee: I always have been experimenting with the latest trends in well-being, like trying various diets on myself and see what works and reading research on food and nutrition. Becoming AFPA certified gave me a solid foundation and framework to evaluate the latest health trends. Every new diet trend no longer seduces me. I know how to assess research and how to cross-examine.
I liked the Holistic Nutritionist certificate because it has given me an understanding of how to incorporate a 90%+ vegetarian lifestyle based on wholesome natural foods. I used to think that the vegetarian diet is limiting, and carbs are bad for your health, but now I see how much variety and richness a vegetarian diet can have and how much energy and well being whole food carbs can provide. Not every vegetarian diet is a proper diet, though. You need to know what to include and what to omit.
I am in my forties, and I feel at the peak of my energy, mental sharpness, and creativity. I am in the best shape of my life. It has been possible because of the hands-on and in-depth knowledge about the holistic lifestyle I learned and engineered for myself.
I have found ways to sustained mental and physical energy. It has improved the way I cook, eat, think, and look. I have got similar positive results for my family and my clients.
Q. Do you have any client success stories you would like to share?
Maithilee: Silicon Valley tech industry is almost obsessed with having optimal mental performance. Most of the engineers tend to be heavily caffeinated, and the executives are known for experimenting with psychedelics to achieve mental clarity. However, there is also a rising awareness and a strong preference for a natural and organic lifestyle.
The Holistic Nutrition certificate has given me the foundation to help clients achieve sustained mental clarity through diet and lifestyle changes instead of relying on caffeine or experimental drugs. This gives my clients the mental benefits without undesirable side effects.
I have clients who came to me for career coaching and, in addition to career advancement, have lost 10 lbs- 30 lbs of weight and kept it off.
Many have reached their ideal BMI in a few months by following a customized diet and lifestyle. One of my clients reduced total cholesterol by 67 points! We did this by intervention in food, nutrition, exercise, and mindset.
Q: What advice do you have for others who aspire to achieve optimal mental performance?
Maithilee: I advise that you have two types of goals related to your health.
- Have one or more objective goals that are measurable like weight loss, more muscle mass, lower cholesterol, etc.
- Have one or more subjective goals that you can feel like sustained energy, better sleep, mental clarity, sharpness, and better memory.
